Tea Party

There is this great homeschool group called Skittles that the girls go to.  Lexie isn't technically homeschooled but I do pull her out of kindergarten early on Mondays so she can go and join this group.  This time it was Tea Party for Lexie.  The girls loved it.  They read books on having good manners and proper ettiquitte.  They also learned how to set a table and how to serve guests.  Each girl took a turn being the hostess and the co-hostess.  Lexie's turn was on the last week.  When they host they get to bring the food and serve each of the girls.  We brought oranges and mini peanut butter and jelly sandwiches cut into little shapes.  Then we had lemonade and cookies.
All the girls - it was dress up day.  The girls could wear their fancy dresses.  Lexie was adamant about wearing her cherry dress instead of a fancier dress.  It is different every day in our house.  Sometimes she is all about the glam and other days even a bow in her hair is too much.  It must be because she is sandwiched between boys.
Seriously the best cookies ever
The mini pb & j sandwiches - having them cut into little shapes makes it better
Alexis went around to each person and asked them if they would like a sandwich or some lemonade.  At first it was really fun.  Then Lexie realized that as a hostess she had to serve everyone else first before she got to eat.  Then when she finally sat down her "guests" needed refills so she got right back up to serve them.  It was a great lesson about being selfless and serving others.  She was very patient and did a great job.  She did end up eating her treats and having a fun time.  She even got to ask if they would like sugar in their "tea" (lemonade).  It was a bona fide tea party.
