OK, so it really isn't quite an obsession but I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan. So much so that every time a new book came out and a movie, I would read all the books in succession before I read the new book or saw the new movie. Needless to say that I got quite sick of the first 4 books because I read them so many times but I am still a huge fan. I have always secretly wanted to go to the midnight book releases and movie release but haven't ever been able to or had the guts to do something so crazy. Plus it seemed like I was always sleep deprived and my fan status didn't include giving up precious sleep that is worth more than gold to a mother. Then the other night my brother Josh said he was going to the 12:01am showing if the latest release, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I jumped at the chance. Travis thought I was crazy and Kaden asked if he could go with me. To be honest I was half crazy since the movie was 2 1/2 hours long but it was a once in a lifetime thing for me so we went. Josh went over early to save seats and I got there about 11pm. I wondered if I would see any dressed up Harry's, or Dobby's or Voldemorts. I knew everyone else had to be half crazy too to be here so I wouldn't have been surprised if I had seen some people playing dress-up. Sad to say the most dressed up person I saw was in their Pj's (now why didn't I think of that?). I. I looked around to see who else was there and I saw everything from young teenagers all the way up to grandparents. It was fun to look around and see fellow fanatics. I brought some munchies and a book to pass the time until the movie started. Not to self: movie theater seats are not meant to be sat in for 3 1/2 hours. I also brought some caffeine just in case I needed it. I didn't even crack the bottle, the movie kept me mesmerized the whole way through. The best news I heard all night is that the last book will be broken into 2 movies. I think I may skip reading the whole series again and just read the last 2 again to save time and keep brain cells from leaking out of my head due to useless repetition. After this fun night you may find me in my PJ's with a pillow seeing the last 2 Harry Potter movies at the 12:01am showing. Anyone want to join me?
I left for the movie feeling like a teenager and came home at 2:45 very much feeling my age.

Thats so fun! I've done the waiting in line at midnight for the books for the last few and it was really fun. Ry and I are going to see the movie tomorrow night, we're pretty excited.
I LOVE midnight showings-I'll be there! And I have to admit this, although it may seriously shoot my cool-factor in the foot: I dressed up for the midnight premier showing of the 3rd Lord of the Rings. How embarrassing, I know, but it was high school!
