Kaden just turned 10 and is now a Webelow. I can't believe all these milestones we are hitting. He thought it was pretty fun that I had to paint his face. My non-artistic ability really came through and the paint somewhat resembled a bear paw. The really fun thing about Webelows is that Trav is his scout leader. They have scout meeting at our house - which can be fun or crazy depending on the day. We have a pretty small group right now with only 4 boys because Kaden is one of the older boys but we have about 6 more boys coming in pretty soon. It is fun to see the boys learning all of the great things that I am so glad boys know. How to use tools, tie knots, be a good citizen and respect others. I don't think I appreciated the scout program as much when I was a scout leader that I do now as a mother. It is yet another thing in my religion that helps me as a mother to raise better children. In reality, I need all the help I can get!
I have to admit I get a little weepy during the flag ceremony. I always get a little weepy. Even in public places or if there are military people being recognized I puddle immediately.
The boys had a lot of fun stick-pulling. I think as spectators they thought it looked easy and didn't realize how hard it was until they tried it.
The boys got to make rubber band slingshots which was the hit of the night. The scout master was so great to sit the boys down and go through rules about rubber band gun etiquette.
