Primary Talent Show

Last year for the talent show the kids did YMCA and it was a big hit.  Since it was such a big hit it was harder to come up with something that would top that at least in my boy's mind. Then I saw this great idea on my friend's blog and told my boys about it.  The clincher was the boys HAD to have good music.  We decided it would be funnier if we did the glow-men dance to the music from the evolution of dance.  I tweaked a few of the songs and made our own version on garage band.  Then instead of buying the glow men costumes the boys dressed in all black and we taped the glow sticks on them.  It was a much cheaper way to go but it made movement a little tricky.  The end result was awesome.  It didn't show up well on the camera or the video camera but you get the gist of the idea.  The boys had a blast and the funniest part was watching the pregnant very uncoordinated woman teaching the boys each dance move for all the different songs.  The best was when I tried to capture the Thriller essence and get them to be more "zombielike".  The song they liked the best was kung fu fighting and I didn't have to teach them any moves for that one!  The video is pretty bad but you can hear the music.

Since I was helping run the talent show plus coordinating the costuming for the boys I was a little frazzzled and passed the photography duties off to Taylor.  She did her best but I didn't get any pictures of the cute cheerleader girls.  Taylor, Emily and Alexis all looked so cute.  We didn't have much practice time and Chloe was trying to help from the wings so luckily Emily wasn't afraid to just dance her heart out.  Mia and Lexie tried their best to follow her lead.  It was so cute to see them up there shaking their pom poms.  That was the only way I could get Lexie on stage was the promise of Pom Pom's.  Bribery, coercion shameless and kind manipulation call it what you like but it worked!
