Callen has now left the greener pastures of Toy Story and Monkeyland and settled on one focus. CARS. He has discovered YouTube (dumb mother moment). I showed him a YouTube about a week ago with a little boy and his cars collection. Callen now wants to see it over and over all the time. He also discovered that my iphone has youtube so his viewing possibilities are endless. He finally wore out his DVD of cars so he needs new things to watch. Meanwhile I am trying VERY hard to cut our TV for this little guy and get him to play more. He just tries to thwart me at every move. How does he do this? He has many methods, tantrums, crying, hitting, throwing things, saying "peas Mommy", demanding, grabbing my phone and running and then moving on to other members of the family when I hold strong. Then I came up with a genius move....I do have these flashes occasionally. Too bad these flashes do no more than occupy a 2 year old for 30 minutes but hey I'm not picky. I videotaped him lining up his cars and naming and counting them. He watched himself over and over and over again. I figure if he is watching himself it is one step above the mind rotting TV.
Yes he does have WAY too many cars but since that is all he is into everyone got him more for Christmas. Honestly you can't have enough because we are always losing them.
The bottle is the other obsession I am working on curbing.......I think the bottle fairy may have to come and whisk them away one of these days when I have the energy to deal with a long night....Or maybe I will wait until he is 4 and can get his own bottles for himself like my Dad did when he was little.

LOVE how he lines-up the cars! Luke was really, really, really into that about 9 months ago. Now, Cade's getting into that too. I wonder what that means in child psychology terms? Anyhow - about the bottle. I can only give you advice about how we got rid of Cade's binky. (And if you know me... Cade having a binky at all was PURE TORTURE for me, but the kid was SOOOOOOO hard as a baby). Here's how I did it: Gone. Forever. Out of sight. I actually thought I had lost it at the mall (but Luke found it weeks later). With no binky, he had to learn to cope without it. It was one, maybe two nights of being fussy at bedtime, and then he was fine. So, maybe just go cold turkey. It may take a couple of days, but then he'll forget he ever had them! :)
Hey--any chance you could make another one of those movies, only longer? Lincoln is sitting on my lap asking for "more baby, more cars!" He loved Callen's movie. Thanks!
Mish - I may have created a monster for you with Lincoln. Callen wanted to watch cars AGAIN today and said in a very demanding voice "Mom I want IPHONE!" Man I need to take them on a trip to Africa or something. At least Lincoln will recognize Kaden when he sees him next week!
Wow I'm impressed that he can remember all their names. But the big question is, Rachel, Can you?
