Ellis Island

Tanner's Second Grade Class did a whole Unit Study on Ancestry.  Tanner got to interview his Great Grandma, do research on our family history and do an Ellis Island re-enactment.  I was the lucky Mom who got to be Lady Liberty.  I got all dressed up and I was the first thing the kids saw as they turned to corner.  Just like the immigrants of years ago The Statue of Liberty was the first thing they saw after a long and sometimes deadly journey.  It was a great experience for both of us and one that I hope Tanner will always remember.  I for one will not forget it anytime soon.
