What do Nie Nie and Mitt have in common? Breakfast. Ann & Mitt recently had breakfast with Stephanie Nielson and her husband Mr. Nielson (visit Stephanie's blog here) and she called him "Mitt the Man". Now my Aunt and Uncle have met gobs of famous people but for the most part I don't necessarily wish I could meet all of the people he meets. Although I was a bit jealous when he met Ben Affleck and Matt Damon back in the Good Will Hunting, Armageddon days. I don't have that same desire now but that is another topic for another day. This meeting however I was jealous of. In my old and advanced years I have become a little jaded of "famous people". I really don't need or want to meet them. I know I will find them amazingly normal and not as perfect as the magazines say they are. The people I really want to meet aren't the people who play stars but the ones that ARE stars in their own lives. Stephanie Nielson is one of those people. Beautiful inside and out, talented, creative, funny, resilient and mother extraordinaire. Not because she is as talented as Rachel Ray, as pretty as a supermodel or as funny as a comedian but because she is simply Stephanie and the best Stephanie that she can be. She loves, serves, befriends, cries, hurts, gives and creates to the best of her ability and that in turn inspires me to stop and enjoy and to love and give a little bit more. So my hats off to "Mitt the Man". Does he know that he just had breakfast with an amazing Daughter of God? Is he aware that to me a simple breakfast may have been one of his best meetings ever? After all it is through small and simple things that great things come to pass. My hats off to all the little people who are really the ones that
make the world go round.

Rachel - the boys and I met Stephanie, her husband and kids at a Jason's Deli in Orem. Totally by chance. They walked in the door and I could barely contain myself! She is as beautiful and gracious in person as you'd think! :)
I'm so jealous!
Don't get mad... but I live on the same street as her! We are only 10 houses apart, but we actually aren't in the same ward. I'm in her sister Courtney's ward, though (blog.cjanerun.com). But I see them and their kids all the time because her parents live in our neighborhood, too, so the kids are always walking to and fro between the grandparents and Courtney's house. I've talked to Stephanie several times and she is sooo sweet in real life.
I am so jealous of you both!
