Part of me wishes that we could just get out of school 2 weeks early because all they do the last 2 weeks is party. Not that the kids don't enjoy it but we could be starting summer even earlier. A couple of days before school ends the school does a family picnic. They have music and a few fund-raising things that we normally ignore - am I awful for admitting that? This year we grabbed a bunch of Subway sandwiches, cookies and chips. The kids were so happy with the special lunch and it was nice to just sit back and watch them all interact. Callen and Nate kept running off in search of Cars backpacks and the kicker was when we caught Callen hiding behind a pole drinking an In-N-Out shake from the garbage. A definite highlight for my mothering book. The classic part was that I just let him keep drinking it. I figured that he already had the germs running down his throat and in his body and it was too late to stop it so he might as well enjoy!
