The annual fun run is always something I generally look forward to. I get to get a good run in while spending time with my kids. This year I wasn't exactly thrilled. I knew I couldn't run only waddle and that I would have a hard time even keeping up with Lexie. Instead I signed up to be a track card Mom. I would cheer the kids on and mark each of their laps. It wasn't as fun as being part of the fun run but it was fun watching the kids run around and work so hard. I also totally cheaped out and didn't get the kids T-shirts this year. $25 each shirt? Seriously? We keep getting e-mails to donate to the school saying that our kids are getting a private school education for a public school price. Ha! Last time I checked Private Schools have small class sizes and art, music, p.e. etc. Luckily we have had great teachers but I still don't want to spend $75 for my kids to wear a navy blue t-shirt that will end up as pajamas.
This was Lexie's first Fun Run and she was SO excited. It was so cute watching all
the kindergartners stretch and get ready to start to run.
Lexie did 7 whole laps! She even walked slow enough to let me tag along
Callen even tagged along although his favorite part was the oranges
Tanner was die-hard. He kept motoring even though it was VERY hot
Super Man
Tanner did 25 laps. Way to go!
My little men
What a stud!
Callen resting after working SO hard
Nick and Chloe worked pretty hard - I am not sure if they dumped water on
themselves or just worked REALLY hard but they were pretty wet!
Kaden was bound and determined to beat his record from last year. Unfortunately he I didn't get a picture of his lap card but he did beat his record and was one of the fastest kids in 5th grade!
I kept trying to get him to stop and take a drink because it was so hot but he didn't want to waste his time. I decided to be resourceful and I just threw water on him as he streaked by me.
Kaden was so impressive with how fast he ran and in such hot weather. He was a machine out there. We joke that he got all his speed from Travis (not) but whoever he got it from he was inspiring to watch. He ran 24 laps at the hottest part of the day and was in the top 2 in his class. I can't wait to join him in some runs when I can run again and try not to be left in the dust.
