I walked into the bathroom the other day and saw Callen wearing Trav's shoes. It made me pause at the symbolism of the moment. I'll admit that my first thought was he is playing with the shoes again! Then when the mother brain took over from the neat freak part of my brain I realized how little he was in those big shoes and whose shoes he was wearing. Those are Trav's basketball shoes and I flashed to all of the amazing things he has done in his life. From being in my humble but correct opinion the studliest return missionary on Ricks College Campus, to my best friend, my eternal companion and now the amazing father of my 5 children. It makes me feel so lucky to have him in my life. As I looked at Callen in his Dad's big shoes it made me pause and consider the example that Trav has laid for all of our kids. They learn from him how to laugh, how to work, how to play, how to cry when you feel the spirit, how to love the Lord, how to appreciate where they come from, how to dream big and go for it, how to love their mom, how to set goals and most of all how to be "outstanding" in all they do. They are big shoes to fill but as a parent out ultimate goal is to have our kids learn to live better lives than we lived in every way. Thank you Trav for setting the standards with your big dreams, big heart and big shoes.
