We had a pretty eventful week this week. First Tanner went to play at the park after school and fell off the monkey bars. He said the girl in front of him was going really slow and his hands started to get sweaty (it was 80 degrees - not to rub it in!) and he slipped and landed with his arm twisted. When he came home from school he told me his arm hurt and I being the super compassionate mother that I am said go play Wii and rest it a bit and I bet it will feel better. Mother translation: it was my cooking day and I was making 5 dinners and we had doctors appointments and I needed to run errands before 5pm plus I had book club at my house that night and needed to clean it and make fruit pizza. AHHH! In other words I was crazy busy and thought Tanner was being dramatic. In my weak defense hse tends to be a bit dramatic at times. He came out a little later and said mom it really hurts. I think I really believed him when I saw the other kids playing outside and he wasn't playing with them. Then I asked him if I could look at his arm and his elbow area of he left are was really swollen. I called Travis in and had him look at it and Trav said he thought it was broken. Since my day was already bursting at the seams Trav took him to Urgent Care. Tanner was really nervous so we promised him some Jamba Juice and all of his fears melted away. Isn't that amazine! He came home in a sling with a mixed diagnosis. One doctor said it was broken and one said it wasn't. We were told to keep him in a sling for 4 days and then if he still couldn't straighten it then we needed to take him To Children's. Needless to say after 4 days it still wasn't straightening. To top it off, Taylor was at the park (same park) on Saturday and was playing tag and running backwards while being chased and fell on her right hand just the wrong way. We rushed her over to Urgent Care. Yes, twice in one week. I had my story all ready to explain that I was not at either place when they broke their bones and to bring witnesses if needed. I could just see getting a call from CPS with 2 broken bones in 3 days. Luckily they took it all in stride. After we waited for hours, took x-rays and picked up Tanner's while we were there (why not kill 2 birds with one stone) we were told Taylor broke her wrist pretty bad in 2 places. They put her in a splint and a sling and we got her some McDonald's on the way hone for being so brave. We had to wait until Monday when Children's Hospital Orthopedics opened up to get then casted. Tanner had his x-rays taken again and it was definitely broken. Tanner picked Celtics green for his cast color and Taylor picked pink - of course! They were both so brave. Tanner's was pretty painless and easy but Taylor's was another story. They had to mold the cast around her broken wrist to make sure it dried properly. They had to manipulate her wrist and she was squeezing my hand with her good one. They said it would take about 30 seconds but it ended up taking about 5 minutes. My fingers started to turn purple and she was crying. Tanner started to cry because he saw that his sister was in pain. It was a very sweet but also very painful moment. Once the painful part was over it went smoothly after that. They both did fabulous and vowed to never go to that park again! They say it is cursed. I hope they get over that since it is our closest park. This whole experience hasIt has opened my eyes to how much they do around the house and how much we will miss their help! It was a week I wish we could have skipped but we learned a lot and will have funny memories to look back on!
Celtics Green
To quote them... "we're cool like that"
Yeah, Tanner thinks he's pretty special

Good luck with BOTH recoveries and I hope they heal quickly! I wish I could help you...best to all of you!!!!!!!
That Tanner has definitly got some Jessie in him. Those little freckles
accross his nose remind me of Jess when he was about that age. His eyes
show a little attitude as well. Broken bones will heal and they make
memories. I hope Taylor feels better.

Well you could look at the bright side and at least it's not in the summer time! Good luck with everything. Having just Whitney break her arm last summer was plenty! Hope you guys are doing well! Your family is so adorable!
Wow, a two-fer! I know how you feel about CPS. Meghan broke her foot and cut her cheek open two weeks apart playing on the same jungle gym. The triage nurse did a double take when I brought Meghan in the second time. When you have kids, these things happen. Makes life interesting.
Oh my gosh - those pictures are so cute/funny! What a memory! When it rains, it pours, I guess :)
Adam broke his arms in a freak monkey bar accident as well when he was 7 and was in a cast for 6 months-long story short-stay away from monkey bars (especially on hot days)!!
