WARD ICE SKATING PARTY

It is my favorite ward activity!  OK, so I am kidding.  Anything that involves extreme cold and coordination is not for me.  However it is the kids favorite ward activity so we bundled up aka: found our warmest sweatshirts.  Did I mention how hard it is to find warm clothes when you live in California?  We don't ever really have jackets let alone gloves.  I called around to borrow mittens and the boys put on long pants for this first time this winter.  Trav was out of town but I figured that all the kids would be pretty self sufficient on the ice.  I should have thought through that more and considered that at least one of the kids got my coordination (or total lack of it).  That gene skipped Kaden and after a few practice rounds I realized that it skipped Tanner too. They were zooming around the rink.  Lexie and I were a pair.  She would not let go of the little push cart and I held on right behind her.  I am sure it looked like I was just being a nice mom and helping her but in all reality I needed it as well.  I got a killer hamstring workout from pushing her all around the rink but I wondered if I would ever be able to stand up again when we were done.  Luckily Matt took Lexie around for a spin and gave me a little break.  We only got about an hour of skating in which was not enough for the boys.  Lexie and I were ready for hot chocolate and slippers but the boys could have skated all night.  They are already counting the days until next year.  I also have to thank Taylor for being AMAZING and offering to stay home (I was secretly jealous) and watch Callen so that I wouldn't have to carry him and push Lexie all at the same time.  She is a trooper.  All she wanted in return was Panda Express.  Ah the good days when all they want is a little fast food bribery.  I know those days are getting shorter and shorter but I will enjoy them while I can.  All in all it was a fun night, I actually skated a couple times around the rink sans the push cart and Lexie cheered me from the sidelines.  The kids made snowballs played with friends.  It was a great night!

Yes she is licking the ice.  We haven't had "the talk" yet.   You know, the one where you talk about yellow snow.
The only time she let me let go of her was to take her picture.
