6TH GRADE CAMP

This was a sad week.  Taylor went to 6th grade camp.  Now all along I have been saying that I would NEVER let Taylor go to 6th grade camp.  I went to the same camp 21 years ago and it was slightly traumatic.  When I went 3 girls at a time had to shower together and based on various stages of development it was humiliating in 90 different ways.  After that I said that none of my kids would go for a lot of different reasons, too little, we do do sleepovers, why exactly are they encouraging 11 year olds to be away from their families for 5 days etc.  Well, that all changed when I talked to Taylor's teachers.  They are both LDS and amazing ladies.  One is the aunt of one of Taylor's best friends.  The other one is married to a childhood friend of my mom's.  With the 2 of them giving me every reassurance I felt much safer.  Plus Taylor really wanted to go so after a lot of thought we decided to let her go. She was really excited.  We got her all packed and organized and unbeknownst to her we sent 5 letters and prayed for her multiple times a day.  The first day of 6th grade camp we were so busy getting ready to go that I didn't have time to think about how much we would miss her.  Once we got to the school and got her luggage squared away it really hit me how hard it was going to be without her and how much I would miss her.  Of course I started to bawl when I hugged her and that set her off to crying too.  Then she had to run off to class.  After that I had to see her one more time so Callen and I went up to her class to give her one last hug.  I really can't believe how fast time flies.
