Kaden had a rough week during scout camp. He got a really bad case of swimmers ear and I tried to be a "tough" mom and make him scout through all the pain. I told him he had to go, I even tried shameless bribery because there was this little part of me that wondered if he was exaggerating the pain so he wouldn't have to go to scout camp. I knew that if he went he would love it it was just a matter of getting him out the door. When I promised him basketball cards if he toughed it out and he turned me down I KNEW that he was really in pain. He ended up going to 3 days of camp and stayed home on the couch the other 2 days alternating between sleeping and crying. Poor guy! After realizing how bad it was I of course had a load of mothers guilt come crashing down on me. When he finally felt well enough to go, we loaded him up with Motrin, put numbing drops in his ear and put a cotton ball in it. It goes to show how he felt that he didn't complain about the cotton. Normally that would not work with Kaden but we were ready to try anything at that point. He is my tough guy that has a heart of gold.
