HELP!

When I first saw Lexie sucking her thumb it was so adorable. I would watch her cuddle her silky blanket up to her face, put that thumb in her mouth and calm down instantly. That was a life saver with Lexie because she leans towards being a bit dramatic at times. To be honest it really hasn't bugged me even as she has gotten older. I know I can stop the biggest temper tantrum by handing her her silky blanket. Part of me doesn't want to let it go. Can;t I just keep it until she is a teenager and stop those tantrums on the spot? Oh if only it were that easy. Travis keeps telling her that when she is 4 (in one week) that she will have to stop sucking her thumb. I keep thinking - she is still a baby! I guess it is time for me to let go a little and help her transition into a big girl. Even Callen is getting into it. So any suggestions on how to stop the thumb sucking with minimal pain and in a nice enough way that she doesn't end up in therapy someday blaming me for her life. :) I just had to capture a few pictures of she and her cousin Victoria sharing the silky and sucking their thumbs. you know we are using this as blackmail when they are 15.

That picture of her & Victoria is so adorable! As for getting her to stop sucking her thumb...I know some of my siblings did until they were like 8 or so. (I know that sounds really old! But it was just at night.) I think she'll start to get self conscious of it & want to stop as she gets older. I wouldn't worry too much. It's probably not something you guys can control -she'll have to decide on her own. Good luck!!

Hey Rachel! I found your blog and it's so fun reading and seeing what your family is up to. Your family is gorgeous... seriously cute kids, all of them! Anyway... I liked this post because it reminded me of when I was little and my blanket was suddenly gone! I only sucked my thumb if I had my blanket, so to get me to stop my mom got rid of it. I didn't know what happened. There was some story about an angel taking it away... or something like that. And that was it. Total bummer for me, but it worked. I never forgot though, so yeah... be careful. :) A few years ago I found that blanket somehow and couldn't believe it. It was a sad, ragged thing... no wonder my mom took it away.

Anyway, I'm glad you have a blog and I'll be coming back for updates!
